Malta Blew My Mind: 5 Days in the Mediterranean Gem
From the stunning Blue Lagoon to the historic streets of Valletta - discover why Malta became one of my favorite destinations! Full vlog recap with all my adventures.
Malta… wow. Just wow. I knew it would be beautiful, but I wasn’t prepared for how much this tiny island nation would completely blow me away! Here’s everything from my Malta vlog adventure.
First Impressions
Landing in Malta felt like stepping into a movie set. The honey-colored limestone buildings, the crystal-clear turquoise waters, and that Mediterranean light - my camera couldn’t stop clicking!
Day 1-2: Valletta & Mdina
Valletta: Europe’s Smallest Capital Walking through Valletta is like traveling back in time. The Upper Barrakka Gardens gave me the most incredible views for my opening shots. Pro tip: go early morning for the best light and fewer crowds!
Mdina: The Silent City This medieval walled city is absolutely magical. The narrow streets, the stunning cathedral, and those views across the island - I spent an entire afternoon here just soaking it all in. The footage of sunset from the city walls made it into my top 5 favorite travel moments.
Day 3: Gozo Island Adventure
The Blue Window… That’s No Longer There Okay, so the famous Azure Window collapsed before my visit, but the area is still breathtaking. The coastal walks and hidden swimming spots more than made up for it.
Xlendi Bay This little fishing village stole my heart. I had the best seafood lunch overlooking the bay, and the locals were incredibly welcoming. Definitely a highlight that didn’t make it into the main vlog but will be in my extended cut!
Day 4-5: Comino & the Blue Lagoon
The Most Instagrammed Spot in Malta Yes, it’s touristy, but the Blue Lagoon is touristy for a reason - it’s absolutely stunning! The water is so clear you can see straight to the bottom. I spent hours here trying to capture the perfect shot.
Swimming & Snorkeling The snorkeling around Comino was incredible. I saw so much marine life and the underwater footage turned out amazing (even with my basic underwater case!).
Food Adventures
Pastizzi Everywhere These flaky pastries filled with ricotta or mushy peas became my daily snack. I probably ate about 20 during my 5 days there!
Fresh Seafood Being surrounded by the Mediterranean means incredible seafood. The lampuki (dolphin fish) in Marsaxlokk was life-changing.
Maltese Rabbit Okay, this was outside my comfort zone, but when in Malta… it was actually delicious!
Behind the Vlog
What You Didn’t See:
- I missed my ferry to Gozo because I was filming and lost track of time
- My drone almost ended up in the sea during windy weather in Comino
- I got sunburned on day one because I forgot how strong the Mediterranean sun is
Tech Setup:
- Main camera: Sony A7III
- Drone: DJI Mini 3
- GoPro for underwater shots
- About 200GB of footage for a 15-minute video!
Budget Reality Check
5 days in Malta:
- Accommodation: €35/night (hostel in Sliema)
- Food: €25-30/day (mix of street food and restaurants)
- Ferries & transport: €40 total
- Activities: €50 (boat trips, museum entries)
- Flights: €120 return (from mainland Europe)
Total: Around €400 for 5 amazing days
What Surprised Me Most
The history! Malta has been ruled by everyone - Arabs, Romans, Knights of St. John, British - and you can see all these influences everywhere. It’s like a living history book.
